Action Alert – JFC Seeks Input

The Joint Finance Committee will hold public hearings around the state starting this Friday to take public input on Gov. Tony Evers' proposed state budget.

DSPN asks members to attend each of these sessions in order to testify about the workforce crisis. DSPN, joined by WALA, Leading Age and WHCA/WiCal requested that Wisconsin invests $61.7 million GPR in the 2019-21 budget for a fixed-amount increase to direct care and services for Family Care . We also ask that this money is passed through to employees who support people vocationally as well as those working in program and residential services.

Please take a few moments to make this ask on behalf of our providers!

The schedule is:

  • Friday, April 5 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.): Pontiac Convention Ctr., 2809 N. Pontiac Drive, Janesville

  • Wednesday, April 10 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.): Oak Creek Community Ctr., 8580 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek

  • Monday, April 15 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.): UW-River Falls, University Ctr., Riverview Ballroom #260, 500 Wild Rose Ave., River Falls

  • Wednesday, April 24 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.): UW-Green Bay, University Union, Phoenix Rooms, 2430 Campus Court, Green Bay

Joe Malkasian, Room 305 East, State Capitol, Madison, WI 53702.

The final state budget usually contains not only fiscal items relating to state operations but also often contains policy items and statutory changes on a wide range of topics, so stakeholders closely monitor the state budget process.

The current fiscal year ends on June 30.
